AL BUSTAN PALACE HOTEL

Al Bustan Palace Hotel is a destination in itself. Refurbished and set in spacious grounds the hotel is some 40 minutes east of the international airport. Arabesque Tours can provide Scuba diving, Dolphin watching, Muscat city tours and safaris from Al Bustan Palace Hotel.

With less than 260 rooms, this hotel is grand without being unfriendly; we have always considered its staff to be very good with children. The facilities are superb and the grounds include several pools, manicured lawns, a hidden beach and traditional Omani farm. Enjoy its style, after all its frequently home for Kings and Presidents.

Desert Camps in the Wahiba Sand desert are set in vast open spaces of Oman. They include newly opened camp with a fusion between hotel and camp. Many are permanent, designed in the local Bedouin style with date palm walling or goats hair tents. They either have mattresses on the floor or basic beds. Some have activities such as dune buggies (quad bikes), which can continue into late evening especially at weekends. The meals are casual with simple food. Accommodation is private, ablutions in most shared.

An alternative in the desert is to use dome tenting for private camping in areas that are more isolated.
